Carol Annett’s message to Clients and Families for VOICE E-Newsletter
VOICE E-Newsletter to Clients & Families
Carol Annett, VHA President and CEO
Greetings to all VHA’s clients and families. We are pleased to bring you this first digital edition of VOICE, a newsletter providing updates & information for those we are here to support. We plan to send a message like this to you each month to share the latest from VHA and we hope you will find it valuable and interesting.
We know these past months have been difficult and we hope you and your loved ones are keeping safe and well. COVID-19 has brought so much uncertainty into all our lives and this has caused many of our clients to put their services on hold. We understand that decision and we respect and appreciate how important it is for everyone to do what feels right for their own situation. But we also know that without ongoing care, some clients and their family caregivers are putting their health and well-being at risk.
That is why we are continuing to work hard to make sure we can provide care for our clients while keeping our staff, service providers, clients and families safe. We are planning at VHA, and with our community partners at the local and regional levels, to be ready for the second wave of COVID-19 that the experts say will come, and we are also preparing for flu season to make sure we can continue to provide great care with all the necessary safety precautions in place.
Alongside those preparations, we are dealing with staffing shortages that may negatively impact your service. Many of our staff and service providers are needing to stay home due to childcare issues. And as we know there is a lot of anxiety around children going back to school, we expect this will continue. If you are experiencing any concerns about your care, I encourage you to let us know so we can find solutions together.
Home care has proven itself to be one of the safest ways to receive care, including during COVID-19, and we have all heard throughout this pandemic that home is the best place to be. VHA has carefully followed Public Health guidance throughout and we will continue to do so, including making sure that our staff and service providers have the personal protective equipment (PPE) they need at all times. Please visit https://www.vha.ca/covid-19-coronavirus/ to learn more about our practices. We appreciate your continued support of VHA, and we look forward to continuing to partner with our clients and families to keep everyone safe.
