At VHA Home HealthCare (VHA) our staff and service providers are known for providing high quality care with great heart.

In 2007, VHA started an annual program to recognize and honour staff and service providers who demonstrate spectacular client care. We transformed this staff recognition program into the Client Choice Awards in 2015 and began involving clients and their families in the nomination process. These nominations give clients and families the opportunity to identify exceptional service and share their appreciation for the excellent care they receive.

This year, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, more than ever clients and families are showing their support for VHA nurses, personal support workers (PSWs), rehab providers and coordinators through these nominations.

“There was a whopping 67% increase in nominations for this year’s Client Choice Awards over last year, resulting in 275 Client Choice Award nominees for 2021,” shared Dan Uzelac, Manager of Talent Acquisition and Development at VHA. “We are so proud of the spectacular care our team members provide to our clients and their families and this shows just how much they appreciate it.”

A selection committee made up of representatives from across VHA, as well as a client and family partner, took on the difficult task of selecting this year’s winners. The amazing group of 13 winners for this year were announced at VHA’s Virtual Staff & Service Provider Recognition event in late September.
