VHA Home HealthCare (VHA) is thrilled to announce we have once again been designated with Exemplary Standing by Accreditation Canada. Exemplary Standing is the highest ranking conferred by Accreditation Canada.  

VHA’s survey took place November 3-6, 2024. During that time, surveyors from Accreditation Canada spent time on site with VHA team members from across the organization to gain a deeper understanding of our organizational practices and care.  

Accreditation Canada is an independent, not-for-profit organization that accredits health care and social services organizations in Canada and around the world. Its comprehensive accreditation programs foster ongoing quality improvement through evidence-based standards and a rigorous external peer review.

In the final summary report VHA received from Accreditation Canada, VHA’s strengths in the areas of research, equity and inclusion, health system innovation and client and service provider engagement were highlighted. VHA also succeeded in meeting all Tests for Compliance and exceeded the fundamental requirements of the Accreditation program.  

In addition to this exceptional result, the Accreditation process was a great opportunity for collaboration across the organization. As Kathy Sidhu, VHA’s Director of Quality and Accreditation Lead noted, “VHA’s culture of learning and improving together shone through as we prepared for our most recent survey,” citing examples like our virtual and in-person Accreditation learning fairs. “Our work has certainly transformed since our last Accreditation assessment in 2020. It’s exciting to see the empowerment and leadership that exists across VHA that gives us such a solid foundation for further advancement.”
