2024 Graduate Research Award Winner

Emily Gorgenyi, BSc is a PhD student in the School of Public Health Sciences at the University of Waterloo.

Emily’s research interests include older adults, social prescribing, and vulnerable populations. Her current research focuses on social prescribing initiatives targeting loneliness and social isolation for community-dwelling older adults living with frailty. The objective of this work is to reduce strains on the healthcare system by allowing older adults to age in place and refrain from being displaced to care facilities.

Emily hopes that her work will support modernization of the home care sector by providing better alternatives in the community for patients that require a unique and flexible mix of health and community care.
