Dr. Katherine Zagrodney, PhD
Senior Research Associate and Quantitative Research Lead
Dr. Katherine Zagrodney is a Senior Research Associate and Quantitative Research Lead at VHA Home HealthCare.
She has a PhD in health services research, specializing in health economics, from the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation (IHPME), University of Toronto.
Dr. Zagrodney is passionate about leveraging large, quantitative datasets to enhance the delivery of care to older adults in home care, including improvements for care providers. Her research focuses on health workforce supply challenges with a particular interest in personal support workers, home care, and wage policies. For example, one of her VHA-based papers outlining the economic evidence for PSW wage parity was the most-read healthcare policy papers in the Longwoods journal in 2023.
Katherine holds a status appointment as an Assistant Professor at the IHPME, University of Toronto, where she teaches a fourth-year case studies in health policy course. She Co-Leads the Home, Community and Long-term Care sector at the Canadian Health Workforce Network (CHWN), University of Ottawa. Also placed within CHWN, she lends her expertise in health workforce analysis and policy as a technical consultant for a CIHR-funded research project aimed at improving pan-Canadian health workforce data.
