Helping Hands: Home Support for Families at VHA Home HealthCare
Sometimes families need support while a parent is getting back on their feet. It can be tough to recover after a hospital stay, medical emergency or other situational crisis, particularly when there are babies or young children at home who also need constant care.
Our care providers offer in-home, hands-on help and encouragement. Clients who feel isolated and overwhelmed are reassured that their children are safe and cared for, allowing them to focus on their own healing and recovery. We can support the whole family during a period of transition and link them to community organizations to support their long-term well-being.
I couldn’t focus on work because I was thinking about what was happening at home. But when VHA started and our help arrived, things got better. We knew that for two to three hours, three times a week, my partner would have some peace and could find time to eat or take a shower.
