Caring For Our Community
Personal Support Worker Rina Min builds Bonds that Matter with her Community
From Personal Support Worker Rina Min’s first visit to her client Gwen Noble’s home, the pair felt like they were family.
“Rina means the world to me,” says Gwen, a senior resident living in Toronto. “There’s no words. I know there is nothing she wouldn’t do to help.” Rina visits Gwen several times a week to help her with meals, showering and personal care. Through their time together, Rina and Gwen have formed a special bond.
“Gwen shares her memories and life stories with me,” says Rina. “Every time I listen to her, I gain wisdom from her experiences.”
Gwen adds, “It gives me such a feeling of happiness and comfort to have such a kind and positive person like Rina around.”
Rina’s visits also provide respite support for Gwen’s son and caregiver, John.
“When I visit, John has time to do whatever he needs to. He can take time to care for himself and their home. Being a caregiver, you want to give your loved ones everything, but it’s hard,” Rina shares.
“That’s why VHA stands out,” says John. “It’s not just home care. It’s more than that.”
